LIFE'S CHALLENGES

I will now talk about some of the challenges teenagers usually discuss with me and how we solve them together.

Teenagers experience a lot of physical changes. For example, they grow taller and may put on weight. Some teenagers may not be happy with their appearance. They may feel shy, stay away from people and keep their problems to themselves.
Most teenagers feel that their parents do not understand them or respect them as individuals. It is important, however, for parents to be able to communicate with their children. A good way of improving relationships is for parents to listen to their children. To begin with, parents should find time to talk and listen their children. By doing so, the children will feel that their parents do care for them. They will, be more open and confide in their parents.
Another challenges experiences by teenagers is peer pressure. Friends become more important to them. They want to spend more time with their friends. They begin to trust their friends and turn to them for advice or help. Sometimes, they can be influenced by their friends and get themselves involved unhealthy activities. Therefore, it is very important that teenagers discuss problems with their parents or people they can trust.
